In-Home Hospice Medical Alert Systems

Medical Alert Monitoring Center

Medical alert systems can benefit families providing palliative care for relatives with terminal illnesses. These devices establish a direct line to your hospice provider, without directly dispatching 911. They help care providers keep patients safe and allow them to get help quickly in emergencies.

Medical Care Alert offers a range of reliable in-home hospice medical alert systems that meet the special needs of people in hospice or palliative care at home. Explore our solutions and see why "Care" is our middle name.

The Importance of a Specialized Hospice Action Plan

Standard medical systems are not always suitable for hospice patients. They can lead to unnecessary 911 dispatches that can cause families undue panic. Hospice care prioritizes the patient's comfort and quality of life, especially when they choose to receive care at home. Medical Care Alert works alongside families and care providers in implementing the patient's specific care plan. Our system provides a direct line to people who understand the patient's wishes, preventing unwanted interventions. This helps:

  • Ensure medical decisions are consistent with the patient's care plan.
  • Avoid unnecessary or undesired hospitalizations.
  • Maintain enrollment in the hospice program.
  • Honor the patient's preferred end-of-life process.

Our medical alert systems align directly with hospice action plans to ensure they are upheld correctly.

Emergency Monitoring by Trained Staff

Medical Care Alert provides 24/7 emergency monitoring to patients. We maintain a database of our patients, including their locations throughout the United States. This aids our team of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)-certified operators in providing support whenever needed.

There are three major components to our system:

  • An emergency help button.
  • A two-way speakerphone.
  • 24/7 monitoring at an emergency response center.

This three-step protocol allows us to offer a higher level of expertise and care compared to standard monitoring centers. At Medical Care Alert, you can count on professionals with experience handling hospice-related emergencies with compassion and efficiency. We also have Spanish-speaking operators on every shift to ensure our services are accessible to all who need them.

How Our System Works

If your in-home hospice company doesn't offer a medical alert system, you can get one from Medical Care Alert with no equipment cost and no long term contract. Our devices provide rapid and real-time medical alerts for in-home hospice patients at the press of a button. Here's how our system works:

  1. Pressing the button connects the patient to our Medical Alert Emergency Monitoring Center.
  2. The device user speaks with a live, EMT/EMD-certified operator who has the patient's information and location.
  3. The operator speaks with the patient over the two-way speaker, asking if they need help.
  4. Depending on the patient's response, our operator will contact people on the Contact List or contact your hospice company.
  5. If the operator does not hear from the patient, we will notify your hospice company immediately.
  6. SMS text messages will be sent to the patient's emergency contacts to inform them of the situation.

This process may change depending on the prescribed dispatch plan for the in-home hospice patient. It's important to follow the plan carefully to ensure the right care is provided at the right time. Medical Care Alert also offers a comprehensive Multitenant Safety System, a suite of medical alert systems for homes with more than one patient in hospice care.
